Osamnaest grama na četiri centimetra

Odnos težine i dužine je ovde ceo podatak. Osamnaest zarez tri grama na četiri centimetra znači gustinu — komad koji je mali u prostoru a pun u ruci. To se postiže samo punim metalom i pravim kristalom; isti oblik u lakoj leguri i akrilu težio bi trećinu, i izgledao bi tako.

Preciosa kristali su češko brušeno staklo. Razlika u odnosu na presvučenu imitaciju vidi se na ivici fasete: kod pravog brušenja rub između dve površine je oštar i svetlo se lomi u tačku, kod presvučenog je zaobljen i sjaj se razliva. Na fotografiji se to ne vidi. U ruci se vidi odmah.

Srebrna obloga preko mesinga daje hladan, siv ton. Na kristalima to radi drugačije od zlata — zlato ih zagreva i čini svečanijim, srebro ih ostavlja oštrim i bližim kamenu.

Četiri centimetra pada uz liniju vilice: kratko dovoljno za ceo dan, dugo dovoljno da se pri okretanju glave primeti pokret.
